Chapter 30 Unwanted company
“I’m ready, Gid. How do I look?”
I tried to smile.
“You look great.”
She just smiled at me widely.
“Wait for me in the living room. I’ll be there soon.”

I just got ready when Sam texted me. Alice was in the house. I knew she should be in her room, so I went there. After I knocked,
there was no answer as usual. I went in. She was there, and she looked at me suddenly. I felt like I had to apologise to her for
not keeping my promise, so I told her the reason she had to leave early. When I told her we were going out, I could see she
became terrified again, and she breathed faster.
At that moment, I thought she might know the reason I wanted her to marry me,

I wanted to comfort her. I moved closer, and I told her what this was all about. But I also wanted to surprise her, so I didn’t tell her
every detail. While I was talking to her, she calmed down a little, I guessed, and when I told her she would enjoy that too, she hit
her lower lip. I never thought that a brief movement of a young woman could make me feel an eager kast to make her mine. She
looked at me weirdly, like she’s got a clue about what was in my mind.
That woke me up, and I forced myself to go back to normal. I told her I might let her go back to the sports centre after the event,

and to get her bag. She looked at me in disbelief and I think she had a assumed where we were going.
I left her room. I didn’t know what Seth planned, and even if I wanted to keep her away from the ice, I wanted her to have her
stuff just in case Ava would need help. She said figure skaters need to get used to their skates, so I wanted her to be safe.
Honestly, I didn’t plan to take her back after, as probably we would have dinner at ours, but I couldn’t tell her the real reason I
wanted to bring her bag.

I strolled to Gemma, I only hoped that Alice would be quick enough, so I didn’t need to listen to her moaning.
When I arrived in the living room, she sat on the sofa, looked at me, and stood up suddenly with a huge smile. I had to admit that
she was attractive, but after I discovered how she could be, she no longer couldn’t excite me.
“Are you ready? Can we leave?” She asked.
I sat down, and she looked at me questioningly.
“We just have to wait a few minutes.”
Her expression went weird, like she just got a clue what we were waiting for.
“Gideon, don’t tell me we are waiting for her.”

But she remained quiet as soon as we saw Alice appeared at the door. She didn’t change, just like I asked her, but she looked
breathtaking. She looked at Gemma. I could see the disappointment on her face. Even if I knew that her expression wasn’t out of
jealousy, I still liked that. I stood up.
“Fine, so we can leave.”
I put my hand on Gemma’s back and gently pushed her to make her move. Alice followed us quietly..
“Alice, sit at the back.” I told her, even if I wanted her to be next to me all the time. But on the back, she wasn’t that visible. I
thought. I made sure 1 could see her face from the window, then I started the engine.
The way wasn’t too long. The only thing that annoyed me was Gemma. She wanted to show Alice how happy we were, so she
kept her palm on my thighs and talked to me as if we were a happy couple, even though Alice was there. I tried to put music on,
but she didn’t stay quiet. Obviously, she did that on purpose.
Finally we arrived, and I could see Alice’s excited face. I nearly forgot about myself and smiled, but I got back to my senses
quickly. We all left the car. 1 went to the car boot, then took her bag out. She looked at me surprised, when I walked to her, and I
helped her to put the bag on her back.
I let Alice walk in the front. I took Gemma into my embrace behind her, and I tried to look like I was full of happiness, especially
after I noticed a few weird people around.
We walked into the sports centre. That wasn’t the same one where I rented a place for Alice. We walked in. The signs showed us
which way we had to go. Seth told me to meet them in the dining area.
We could see them from afar, even if there were a lot of kids with their families. Ava noticed us first, then she ran to us. I lifted
her up into my arms and kissed her cheek. She greeted us happily, and she couldn’t take her eyes off of Alice, ignoring Gemma.
“Gideon, I’ll be an ice princess.” She said in her childish angelic voice. I laughed.
“Sure, you will.”
