giggled, sharing a dessert with her. Chase smiled,

Ashley smiled. It was a sad, hollow smile. She stood there, watching them. After a long moment, she turned and left.
Back at the mansion, she finalized the divorce papers. Chase had been the dream of her youth, but he’d never truly cared about
her. If not for that night and family pressure, he wouldn’t have married her at all. She’d foolishly believed that with enough effort,
she could impress him. Reality slapped her hard.
