off. Alex saw
him, asking, “What happened?” Justin told him the whole thing. Alex was surprised, because he knew Ashley well.“This isn’t like
her. Is there a misunderstanding?”
“No, that’s exactly the word she used. I’m just quoting here.”
Alex thought for a while, saying, “Maybe because she’s leaving?” But she was still working hard.
Chase approached.“What’s going on?”
“Ashley left without finishing her work.”
“If you’re unhappy, fire her.”
Chase clearly didn’t care. Alex and Justin were stunned. It wasn’t about his indifference. The point was, he seemed to not know
Ashley had resigned! They’d thought he wanted her to leave!
They were about to speak when Chase’s phone rang. It was from Tanya. He walked towards the elevator, answering, “I’m off
work now, I’ll be there soon...”
