Chapter 168
Chasing The Rejected Luna
-CLARA-
My rugged breathing and the beeping of the machine I was hooked on was the only thing I could hear as I stared up at the white
ceiling.
My thoughts were all over the place but the major things I couldn’t stop thinking about even in my unconscious state was Damon
and our child. With shaky hands, I reached forward to caress my stomach. I heaved a sigh of relief when It moved against my
touch, almost like it was reassuring me of its presence.
“Oh my baby, mummy loves you so much” I murmured as tears streamed down my face. Were we okay? Had we managed to
pull through despite all Sebastian had put us through?
Just then, the hospital door opened up and Delilah walked in with the rest behind her.
“Oh my goddess, Clara” She called out my name softly as she walked over to the bed and hugged me.
“I’m so glad you’re okay” She murmured and I smiled.
“How’s Damon?” I asked and immediately, I felt her tense up.
She slowly pulled away and I frowned when I saw her expression before turning to the rest.
“Where’s Damon? Did he...” I couldn’t complete my sentence, my heart felt like it was being ripped apart.
“No darling, he’s not dead. He’s just in a coma right now and the doctor can’t determine when he will wake up but he will. He
would never leave you” Damon’s mother immediately chimed in as she walked towards the bed and sat beside me then grabbed
my hand.
“He has to be okay. I can’t survive if...”
and I frowned. She didn’t talk about the baby.
“What about the baby? Is it okay?” I questioned as I stared at her face. The tears were already brimming without them saying
anything.
“Of course it is. He or she is a fighter just like you and Damon” She replied with a smile but the look in her eyes were saying a
different thing. Something was wrong.
“You’re not telling me the truth. What’s going on?” I questioned as I glanced at all of them. They all had a solemn look on her
face. “Damnit, she deserves to know and make a choice for herself” Luca suddenly said with an exasperated groan.
“The choice has already been made so shut up” That was my uncle as he turned to Luca with a glare. Luca met his glare with an
even more intimidating one.
“How do you think she’s going to feel knowing you want to fucking kill her child?” Luca suddenly said and a gasp escaped my
lips before my brain could register his words.
“What does he mean by that?” I questioned softly and my uncle sighed.
“Lady bug, he doesn’t...”
“What the hell is he talking about?!” My voice was a little higher now as I glared at him and immediately, his face softened as he
let out a sigh.
“The doctor...” Delilah began as she flashed me a sympathetic look, “He said your baby is a fighter but the more it fights to stay
alive, the more at risk your life is. You and the baby cannot survive, you... you have to make a choice. It’s either you or your
baby” Delilah explained and immediately, a sharp pain rippled through my veins.
“There’s no choice. You have to stay alive, Clara. know it’s a tough decision but I won’t let you die” My uncle uttered and
immediately, Luca and Delilah fired at him for being insensitive and immediately, an argument ensued but I blocked out atPof
them.
With shaky hands, I caressed my stomach and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I couldn’t let this baby die, I wasn’t
going to let our baby die. This child was a result of our love for one another and I’d rather die and let it die.
“I’m keeping the child” I said softly but they all heard me, including my uncle. The room went silent immediately before Delilah
spoke up. “But Clara, the doctor...”
“The doctor doesn’t know shit. My baby and I will survive, we’ll fight for one another. I’m keeping my child” I said to them and my
uncle frowned.
“You’ll die...”
“Then so be it! This is my choice and you’ll all respect it!” I said to them and they all kept their mouths shut.
“I won’t let you die, Clara” My uncle
uttered and the pain in his voice
could be evidently heard. As a
matter of fact, the fear and pain was
evident in all their faces but none excepty my uncle spoke against my decision because they knew what I went through when I
lost our first child. I won’t be able to survive that especially now that Damon was in a Coma.
“I won’t die. Like you said, my baby is a fighter and so am I. I won’t let them die and neither would they let me die” I uttered and
immediately, their eyes widened.
“Them?” Damon’s mother’s voice cracked as she questioned and then it dawned on me. Damon and I hadn’t told them we were
having twins. We had also instructed the doctors not to tell anyone.
“Damon and I are having twins” I told them softly and immediately, his mother began bawling her eyes out as she wrapped her
arms around me.
“Oh honey, that’s wonderful but that makes things worse. The chance of you surviving...” She trailed off as she cried on my
shoulders and all I could do was pay her back. I knew we were all thinking the same thing.
I had thought about the day I was going to tell them everything and had imagined how happy the news would have made
everyone just like how Aunt Amelia had been happy but never in my wildest dream would I have thought of this outcome.
“I’ll survive, we’ll survive”...
