CEO Broke Down and Cried After I Divorced Him by Miss Rich

Chapter 834

Chapter 0834
"The first?" Suzy echoed.
So that meant Evangeline hadn't visited her in months.
It wasn't really surprising.
After everything that happened, Evangeline must've been too disillusioned to bother.
If Suzy were in her shoes, she wouldn't have come either.
Suzy understood that feeling better than most.
When she discovered the truth about Charlotte, the disappointment had been crushing.
The person she trusted most had turned out to be the one who deceived her the deepest.
That kind of betrayal wasn't just painful-it was disorienting.
It would make anyone feel like the whole world had cast them aside.
Evangeline must've felt something similar.
With that thought, Suzy shifted her focus back to Serena. "Do you remember Evangeline?"
"Of course," Serena said with a bitter smile.
"She's my sister. How could I forget her?"
Suzy's eyes narrowed slightly. "And do you remember why you're here?"
"Yeah." Serena let out a heavy sigh.
"I lied to Evangeline. I betrayed her trust, and she was furious. So, she locked me up and said I'd stay here for the rest of my
life."
She shook her head and looked around the cell.

"The rest of my life... It's only been a few months, and I already feel like I'm losing
my mind. How am I supposed to survive forever?"
So, she remembered everything about Evangeline, their falling-out, and the reason she was imprisoned.
And yet she had no memory of Suzy-someone who was directly involved in exposing her.
That left only one explanation: her memory had been tampered with.
Still, Suzy didn't let her suspicion show.
Serena was cunning.
It was entirely possible she'd anticipated this visit and was now putting on a carefully crafted performance, pretending not to
remember in order to dodge responsibility.
As Suzy mulled it over, Serena suddenly broke the silence.
"Why did you come to see me?" she asked, tilting her head.
"What's our connection, anyway?"
The moment the words left her mouth, Serena's face twisted in pain.
She clutched her head with both hands. "Ah-my head! It hurts... it hurts so much!"
Suzy immediately grabbed her wrist, her fingers pressing against the pulse point
to check her condition.
Her pulse was erratic, unstable.
The symptoms didn't match simple stress or a calculated performance.
No, this felt like something far more complex.
Could it be hypnosis?
If Serena had been hypnotized, it would explain her fragmented memory and lack of recognition.

And if that were true, then someone else was pulling the strings.

Or had she misread the situation entirely?
Maybe Serena wasn't the mastermind after all-just another scapegoat caught in the crossfire.
Either way, Suzy needed more information.
She left the prison with a single, decisive plan: she had to get Serena out of there.
"Let her go?" Evangeline's eyes widened in disbelief when Suzy brought up the idea.
"Why would we do that?"
The question made Suzy pause and study sister for a moment. "What,
were you really planning.ne
her locked up for life?"
"It's not like that," Evangeline said, running a hand through her hair.
"I was going to release her
eventually. She's my sister, my last living relative. No matter how much I resent her, I could never actually lock her away forever."
She exhaled a shaky breath. "But she hasn't shown an ounce of remorse, even
after all this time."
Suzy pressed her lips together, weighing her words.

"Her mental state isn't right. Either she's faking it incredibly well, or... someone
tampered with her mind."
Evangeline's brow furrowed. "You think she's innocent?"
Suzy shrugged. "I think we need to find out. The best way to test that theory is to
let her out and see what she does."
