The thought that Evangeline might not actually be pregnant made Suzy recall the time she had offered to check her pulse only
for Evangeline to refuse.
If there was nothing wrong, why had she been so resistant?
But if she was hiding something, there was no way her brother wouldn't know.
After all, he was skilled in medicine himself, which meant Helena could very well be deliberately trying to stir trouble between
them.
And yet... she hadn't seemed like she was lying.
There was only one way to find out-investigate.
Suzy quietly looked into what had happened between Helena and Evangeline while she was away.
To her surprise, the results aligned with what Helena told her.
The tension between them was real.
Even so, Suzy still found it hard to believe that Evangeline was truly behind everything.
She had always been kind.
From the moment they first met, Suzy believed Evangeline was a genuinely good person.
If she had truly been working against Helena, why would she have allowed them to meet privately?
Wouldn't she have been afraid that Helena might tell her something she wasn't supposed to hear?

She couldn't let a few of Helena's words shake her trust in her sister-in-law.
With that thought, Suzy's mind finally settled.
The mere act of doubting Evangeline had left her feeling restless and uneasy.

She couldn't even begin to imagine, let alone accept, the possibility that Evangeline was the person Helena claimed she was.
And if it were true...
Her brother would be the first to fall apart because Evangeline was the woman he loved most.
So, the real problem was Helena—she was trying to shift all the blame onto Evangeline.
If that was the case...
Suzy went to find Evangeline.
The moment she pushed the door open, she was met with an awkward sight-her brother and sister-in-law locked in an embrace.
She froze on the spot, feeling an instant wave of secondhand embarrassment. "Seriously? Why didn't you at least close the
door?"
The door had been half-open, so she had just walked right in.
Who would've thought they'd be all over each other in broad daylight?
Evangeline's face flushed red. "It's not what you think! We-we weren't actually
Simon chuckled, completely
unfazed. "No need to explain. She's
an adult, For all we know, she and
Dylan are wilder than us. No point in being embarrassed. If anything, she's the one who should be."
He smirked at Suzy. "Who told you to barge into someone else's room without knocking?"
Suzy scoffed, half amused, half annoyed.

"Wow. Looks like someone's completely forgotten about his little sister now that
he's married! Fine, next time, I'll be sure to knock, alright?"
"You better."

"Yeah, yeah... whatever."
Evangeline couldn't help but laugh at their bickering. "Suzy, you know, your
brother is only this relaxed when he's with you."
Suzy grinned. "Why do I hear a hint of jealousy in your voice?"
Then, turning back to Simon, she teased, "Come on, kiss her again. Otherwise, I'll
feel like I'm in the way of a loving couple!"
"You-!" Simon reached out and flicked her forehead.
"Enough messing around. Tell me, why are you here?"
Suzy pouted. "Who said I came to see you? I'm here for Evangeline. This has nothing to do with you!"
She grabbed Evangeline's hand and started pulling her toward the door. "Come on, let's talk outside."
Simon, suspicious, followed after
them. "What are you two whispering
about now? I swear, you two have
been keeping a lot of secrets lately. What exactly are you hiding from me?"
Suzy turned and shoved him lightly. "Go away! This is women's business-no men allowed! If you're so bored, go find Dylan and
have a chat with him."
"You won't spend time with your own husband, but you're stealing my wife?"
"That's right!" Suzy hooked her arm around Evangeline's, grinning.
"So, Evangeline, who do you choose-me or my brother?" Evangeline, playing along, laughed. "Of course, I choose you!"
Suzy turned to Simon with a smug expression, tilting her chin up triumphantly. "Hear that? She picked me over you. So go on,
