Chapter 985
With a loud bang, the man’s face was slowly stained with blood.
A passing woman caught sight of the scene and let out a sharp screarn. Immediately after, the man’s companions rushed over,
ready to attack Lena.
But she wasn’t the least bit afraid. Holding the bottle in her hand, she lifted it slightly and sneered, “Come on, go ahead and try.
She was just one woman, alone, yet she carried the presence of an entire army, so overwhelming that no one dared to make a
move.
The bar manager, seeing the situation escalate, called the police. Lena was taken to the station. The surveillance footage clearly
showed that the man had struck first, so she wasn’t entirely at fault. However, she had retaliated too ruthlessly, and the man in
question was a privileged young master. That complicated things.
“You used excessive force in self–defense,” the officer in charge–whom Lena mentally dubbed the hatted man- concluded.
Though she was a surgeon by profession, she knew a fair bit about the law. Smiling faintly, she remarked, “If I had known a
single bottle would count as excessive force, I would’ve just used my scalpel instead.”
Her arrogant tone instantly irritated the hatted man, and he prepared to detain her.

“This is a lawful institution,” Lena said coldly. “If you dare to detain me today, I’ll make sure you go viral tomorrow. Let’s see who
wins.”
In this era of omnipresent surveillance and internet exposure, the hatted man didn’t dare to act rashly. Besides, there was
something different about Lena–something that made him hesitate.
People liked to say you couldn’t judge a book by its cover, but the reality was, you could always tell the difference between the
rich and the poor, the powerful and the ordinary.
Still, he had to deal with the pressure coming from the young master’s side. Hoping to probe Lena’s background, he said, “Call
your family. If no one comes for you, you’ll have to be detained.”

“I’m an adult, hatted man,” Lena teased.
“Be serious. Are you making the call or not?” The hatted man, with a sigh, returned her confiscated phone.
In the past, she would have called Aaron without a second thought. But now? No way. And as for her family? Absolutely not. If
they found out, they’d probably be scared half to death.
In the end, Lena called Ron.
“Hey, boyfriend, come pick me up from the station,” she said casually.
Ron didn’t ask any questions. However, instead of heading there immediately, he sent a message to someone else.
As a result, before Ron even arrived, Aaron showed up first.
“Mr. Ace,” the hatted man greeted him respectfully.
Aaron had recently funded a police–community initiative, and every officer present had personally benefited from it. He was

practically a walking treasure chest.
He nodded politely before turning his attention to Lena. A few strands of damp hair clung to her forehead, and a sharp glint
flashed in his eyes. Taking a long stride forward, he asked, “Are you hurt?”

Lena had no idea why he was here, but his presence seemed to make things easier. She had already noticed the shift in the
hatted man’s attitude.
“No, no, she’s the one who hurt someone else,” the hatted man quickly clarified, his sharp eyes picking up on the underlying
power dynamic.
“Did he die?” Aaron’s question sent a chill through the room.
“No, just a... just a small head wound...”

Aaron glanced at Lena’s slightly disheveled clothes, then took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders. Turning to the officer
handling the case, he asked coldly, “Why did she hit him?”
As he spoke, his eyes flicked toward the surveillance footage playing on the computer screen. It was a short clip, just a few
dozen seconds long, but it showed everything clearly–the bespectacled man harassing Lena.
Aaron pressed his lips into a thin line. “Whose responsibility is this? Do I need to have a lawyer explain it to you?”
The officer watching the video felt his heart tremble.
When Aaron placed his coat over Lena’s shoulders, it became glaringly obvious–this woman wasn’t just anybody. If they had
really offended someone important tonight, they would have been blind fools.
“No, no, this isn’t your girlfriend’s fault,” the hatted man said hastily, his attitude making a complete 180- degree turn.
