Bride Behind The Mask (Frederick and Marguerite)

Chapter 898

Chapter 899
A flicker of panic flashed in Violet's violet eyes as she shook her head. "I don't know."
"Then how did you and Marguerite meet? Did I know her before?" Silas asked, his voice steady but probing.
Violet bit her lower lip, her breath catching as she studied him, searching for answers in his expression. But his face was
unreadable, giving nothing away.
"Silas, what does Marguerite have to do with you? Why are you suddenly asking about her?"
Silas's gaze drifted out the window, unfocused. What did Marguerite have to do with him, really? Why was he suddenly so fixated
on her? Was it the headaches that struck every time he saw her? Or was it the strange familiarity he felt toward everyone in her
orbit?
Maybe it was both.
He lowered his eyes, his deep gaze softening with a mix of carelessness and something almost tender. "I'm not sure. Just
wanted to ask."
Violet was quiet for a long moment before finally replying, her face pale. "I don't know if you two met before-you never told me.

As for how I met Marguerite, it was after I helped her mother. When Thunderbolt Enterprises went under, I started working as her
assistant."
She'd been Marguerite's assistant? That was news to him. But then again, it made sense. For the past six months, they'd been in
a long-distance relationship, rarely seeing each other. Today was the first time they'd had a real, honest conversation.
"So, the company I worked for before was Thunderbolt Enterprises? Why did it go bankrupt? Who owned it?" he pressed.
"Silas, I was just a secretary back then. I stayed out of office gossip. One day, HR just called us all in and let us go. As for the
owner, rumor had it they were incredibly private. I hadn't been there long before the company folded, so I never found out who
was in charge."
Strange. He'd never heard of a Thunderbolt Enterprises, at least not locally. But the name tugged at something familiar in the
back of his mind. Had he really worked there?
He pressed his lips together, running a hand through his hair. "What about my friends? Do you remember any of their names?"

Violet looked away, nervously licking her dry lips. "Back when we were in
school, I only had eyes for you. How I would I know your friends' names?
By the time I worked as your
ve

assistant, you'd already lost touch
with them. I never saw them."
"My parents, then? I've been gone for over half a year-didn't they look for me?"
Violet's eyelids fluttered, her heart pounding so erratically she could barely catch her breath. Every question chipped away at the
walls she'd built around herself. She clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms, forcing herself to sound as calm as possible.
"Your parents divorced when you were young. Your mother raised you alone. I remember you mentioned once that you spent
your childhood in a small town near Stonebridge. But you never talked much about your parents, so I don't know more than that.
After your accident, I tried to track your mother down, but I never found her. I have no idea if she's even alive."
Violet had said a lot, but for Silas, it was finally starting to make sense. He realized he'd lost huge chunks of his memory, leaving
him more unsettled than
ever.
And yet, if he'd truly loved Violet as much as she claimed, why didn't he feel even a trace of that love now?
He stared out the window, lost in thought, while Violet quietly slipped her phone from her pocket. The screen still showed an
ongoing call, half an hour long, never disconnected.
She took a deep breath and covered the phone with her hand. "That's all I know, Silas. I'm sorry. I need to get some air."
She stood up and left the hospital room. Out in the hallway, there was no sign of Marguerite, Hayes, or Margot. She made her
way to the end of the corridor, lifted the phone to her ear, and her gentle expression faded into shadow.
"You heard everything, didn't you? I want you to take exactly what I said and upload the footage into Frederick's neural program."
