Chapter 503
Anthony's face was etched with concern as he stood at a distance from the police officers. He spoke in a deep, urgent tone,
"Captain Stacy, we cannot allow Walter to hold Mariel hostage and walk away. I'm a doctor, and I can see that Mariel's neck
wound is severe. If she is not treated, her life is in immediate danger."
Captain Stacy's pupils contracted slightly as he heard Anthony's words. His expression became serious and determined as he
relayed into the intercom, "The hostage-takers are attempting to escape. The hostage is critically wounded and requires
immediate medical attention. Snipers, prepare to fire!"
When Walter saw this, he was about to make his way to the helicopter.
Suddenly, a shot rang out through the forest, startling the countless birds in the
area.
Anthony saw Walter fall slowly. As Walter crumpled to the ground, a crimson stain blossoming between his eyebrows, time
seemed to slow down.
At the same time, countless well-armed police officers rushed from the surrounding area, quickly taking control of the confused
gang members who had yet to react.
Anthony took a step forward and ran toward Mariel.
As Anthony reached her, Mariel's lips twitched slightly. She was grateful that he had survived.
As soon as Mariel's nerves calmed down, his whole body seemed to lose all strength. He fell straight towards Anthony.
Anthony quickly reached out and embraced her.
Dazed, Mariel heard Anthony's reassuring words whispered in her ear, "Mariel, you're safe now. Don't be afraid."
There was no word from Mariel all night.
Reese felt guilty and worried that something might happen to Mariel.
The next morning, Reese continued to call Mariel, but she still could not get through to her.
Growing increasingly anxious, Reese considered calling the police.
Just as she was about to take that step, her phone rang with an incoming call. It was Strakovski Jewelry contacting her.
When Reese got through, she heard a colleague from the human resources department on the other end of the line.
"Ms. Roberts, in light of the recent rumors that have been circulating online about you, the company has made the decision to
place you on administrative leave. You are not expected to report to work today."
Reese's expression darkened as she inquired, "Is this a company-wide decision? Does Mr. Strakovski know?"
The colleague over there sounded a little disdainful, "Had Mr. Strakovski been present, your fate would likely have been
termination, not suspension. Ms. Roberts, please consider this a lenient measure, as all upper management believes that you
Reese's expression turned ugly, "Very well, I'll await the company's formal termination then."
With that, Reese ended the call.
As soon as she hung up, a call came in from an unknown number. Reese's eyes turned red and she hung up the phone.
At the thought of the bad words on the Internet and the mysterious disappearance
of Lukas Strakovski, Reese's eyes were filled with tears and her heart was heavy with sadness. She longed for Lukas' return.
She rubbed her eyes as she felt a little bit sad. "Lukas, when are you going to come back?" she whispered painfully.
Ava was in the middle of a shoe change when she was suddenly interrupted by a phone call. When she saw that it was Anthony,
she quickly answered the call.
"Hey, Ava, it's me!" Mariel spoke on the other end of the line, her voice was a bit weak and hoarse.
Ava suddenly looked at Reese, unable to hide the smile on her lips, "Reese, it's Mariel!"
Reese's eyes lit up at last.
However, when she saw the ugly look on Ava's face when she answered the phone, she started to get nervous.
After Ava picked up the phone, she pursed her lips and looked at Reese, "Mariel was kidnapped by Walter yesterday on her way
to the hospital. Her phone was broken and we couldn't reach her. It was Anthony who called the police and they were able to get
her out of there last night. She was in a coma and is currently in the hospital. Anthony is with her. Let's go to the hospital now."
The face of Reese became angry, "That Walter Simmons is so crazy!"
Ava was deeply concerned for Mariel, "Indeed, there's no denying it. We must go
to the hospital immediately to check on Mariel!"
With their concerns weighing heavily on their minds, Reese and Ava immediately made their way to the hospital.
At Switzerland Airport, the flight from Las Pinas finally landed safely.
