A Perfect Lie Hides Behind My Billionaire Marriage (reese and hudson)

Chapter 475

She was so frightened that she bit down on Lukas' lip with all of her strength. Lukas felt a sudden stab of pain and immediately
pulled away from her.
Lukas fixed Reese with a stern expression, his tone serious, "Reese, you know they say women are made of water, but
sometimes I wonder if you're made of cement."
Reese was taken aback, "Cement? Why on earth would I be made of cement?"
Lukas pointed to the corner of his mouth, which now had a tiny crack in it, "Well, look, you had just chipped off the corner of my
mouth!"
Reese couldn't help herself and burst out laughing.
The cell phone continued to ring.
When Lukas saw that Reese was still smiling, he couldn't help but look at her hurt, "Baby, you just bit me and you're still smiling
so happily!"
Reese was a little embarrassed, "I really didn't mean to do that. My phone rang and I got a call. Can you please let me take it? I'll
make it up to you, I promise."
Lukas didn't release his grip on her and began to negotiate, "Okay, I'll let you take the call, but how are you going to make it up to

me for the bite on my lip? You see, it's slightly bruised."
"Can we save this for another day?" sighed Reese. "I'm really not in the mood today..."
Lukas couldn't help but chuckle. He looked at Reese, completely mesmerized by her adorable demeanor.
Of course, he knew that the relationship had just been confirmed today and he couldn't let it go. He had to go through it step by
step, otherwise, Reese would definitely go crazy.
He kissed Reese gently on the cheek and stood up, albeit reluctantly, letting her go.
Reese quickly picked up the phone and answered the call.
Before Reese could say a word, Luther's voice came over the phone, "Reese... Why are you ignoring me? Have I not been good
enough?"

Luther's voice on the other end was laden with alcohol. He denied being drunk, but his speech and manner betrayed him.
Reese remarked with a hint of concern in her voice, "You are clearly drunk!"
Luther's voice grew louder as he protested, "I am not drunk! I... I'm perfectly sober! But, Reese, you don't know... when I was
overseas... I missed you so much. I thought about you every day, every moment. I finally convinced myself to come back to the
United States, but... why are you acting colder than before? What did I do wrong? I just want to see you, even if it's from a
distance, just like in the old days.
Reese's expression soured at the realization of their predicament. She tried to console him, "Clearly, you're in a drunken state

right now, and it's not a good time to have this conversation. We'll have this conversation when you're sober, okay?"
Luther adamantly refused to hang up and exclaimed, "No, you'll avoid me when I'm sober. I know it. You don't want to talk to me.
You don't answer when I call you, and you treat me so coldly... It makes me so unhappy, Reese!"
Reese's expression changed slightly. It was a real challenge for her to fathom why Luther would utter such words for no apparent
reason while intoxicated.
The situation made her feel uncomfortable. She had tried to move on from her inexplicable feelings towards Luther, but he was
the older brother who had protected her for so many years. He had taken care of her for five years, and she wasn't the type of
person to forget that easily. Her current indifference was mainly due to her fear of getting emotionally involved with him.
Reese's thoughts were on how to tell a drunken Luther to hang up the phone and get some rest, and to suggest that they
discuss things when he was sober.
But at that moment, there was a rustle on the phone and a familiar voice broke through, "Reese, it's Vivian. Please do not return
any of his calls without a reason."
Reese's expression soured further, her irritation clear. She shot back, "Ms. Scholl, I ask you to respect yourself. Whether or not I
answer my phone calls is none of your business. And if you are with him, please take good care of him. I'm hanging up."
She quickly ended the call with a scowl on her face.
Lukas, who had been listening to the conversation, looked at her intently, concern in his eyes. He inquired, "What's going on?
Whose call was that?"

Reese's lips tightened, her frustration evident. She explained, "It was a senior who called me while he was drunk. I wanted to
comfort him and tell him to get some rest. But his girlfriend called to warn me!"
Lukas's eyes lit up and he mused, "Interesting. Why would your senior call you when he's drunk?"
Reese detected something odd in his words and furrowed her brow, scrutinizing Lukas. She asked, "What do you mean by that?"
