suddenly, Shirley’s phone rang again. This time, the caller I showed an unknown number. She let it ring, before picking it up.
“Hello?
“It’s me.” Samuel’s voice came through the speaker
Hearing his voice after so long caused Shirley’s body to tense up uncontrollably. It took her a few moments to compose herself
enough to speak
Samuel’s voice brought back memories of their disastrous wedding that had become the talk of the town. It had only been a
month, but it felt like a distant event from another era
Samuel stood on the 65th floor, gazing down at the bustling city below. He spoke softly, “Shirley, the Mendosa couple are in
Elderstone and they’ve mentioned you several times. They want to see you again.”
Shirley remained silent for a long moment.
Samor pressed on, “It’s just a casual meal. It’s nothing to worry about. It won’t take long, and it won’t cause any trouble.”
Shirley was silent.

“I’ve already told the Mendosa couple that we’re no longer together, so don’t worry about that.”
Shirley did not respond
“Shirley, please say something.”
After a while, her voice came through again, cold and distant. “Don’t worry, I’ll go.”
But this time, not because of him.
Samuel wasted no time telling Shirley the location as soon as she replied Without saying a word, Shirley ended the call abruptly.
But after ending the call, he couldn’t bring himself to lower the phone for a while.
When he finally did, he noticed that the back of his phone case was covered in sweat from his palms, atestament to how nervous
he had been during the call with shirley. He never would have imagined being so jittery while talking to her. Yet, she had

promised to come
A smile crept onto Samuel’s face at the thought–she agreed to come. His reflection on the floor–to–ceiling window showed just
how elated he was, almost childlike in excitement. For a moment, he froze in disbelief before reaching out to touch his own
reflection. The smile still plastered on his handsome face.
After hanging up the phone, Shirley took three minutes to gather her thoughts and get out of bed. She walked slowly toward the
bathroom, taking one step at

a time.
An hour passed, and Shirley stood in front of the mirror, satisfied with her appearance. She applied her lipstick and thought to
herself that overthinking was pointless. It was better to simply be herself and not worry unnecessarily.
The past could not be changed, so it was best to let things unfold naturally. As for Benjamin’s anger, there would always be a
way to calm him down eventually.
with everything prepared, Shirley sent Benjamin a message informing him that she was ready and would be leaving soon.
However, she received no reply from him. Taking a deep breath, Shirley grabbed her bag and headed out the door.
At 6:50 pm, Shirley’s car pulled up to an exclusive private club. The exterior was tastefully decorated with a garden–inspired
theme, reminiscent of an idyllic countryside landscape. Manicured hodges, vibrant flower beds, and tranquil ponds adorned the
grounds, creating a picturesque scene.
After parking Shirley messaged Benjamin again, “I’ve arrived. Where are you?
This time, Benjamin responded with a simple “come in.”
Shirleventh stepped out of the car after confirming that Benjamin had arrived. The waiter led her to the private room where they
were gathered
she noticed the bodyguards next to Benjamin, but didn’t see him at first as he was at the end of the halfwng talking with Calvin.
